I am Avis Yarbrough. I am a Chicago- based freelance, fiction, and essay writer who pens short stories, essays, and romance novels, and as a freelance writer, I write articles, short e-books, blog posts, profiles, and long-form content.  I am working on  a romantic fiction novel titled, “What I Learned While Reading Romance Novels.” I also write short stories for businesses.

 I believe that the written word can change people. I know this is true because it changed me. I was a shy teenager, where each day was a struggle, but I discovered reading, and it saved me; reading books made me want to live.  It also made me want to be a writer.

As a romance writer, I entertain readers with stories where characters fall in love and there is usually a HEA ending. With my literary work, I write interesting and unique stories.

As a freelance writer, I write engaging content in the health and food space. I do thorough research, am resourceful, and a hard worker.

 As a fiction writer, I would describe myself as a work in progress.
